Hiring Process

Parkland Ambulance Care takes each new employee through a hiring process which through a comprehensive evaluation process ensures the best possible candidates that fulfill our employment criteria are hired.

After the initial application process those candidates who fulfilled the application requirements will move onto the second phase of a multiple phase hiring process.

Stage two takes prospective candidates through a rigorous didactic examination to assess the knowledge base at their given educational level. Candidates who do not meet minimum requirements maybe asked to exit the hiring process.

Stage three involves the prospective candidates in medical and trauma scenarios. These scenarios are designed to mirror real work situations and exam not only how an individual might perform practically but respond mentally to various external stressors. The evaluation process involves the candidate as a team member, working with an existing Parkland Ambulance employee in mock scenarios. Candidates who do not meet minimum requirements maybe asked to exit the hiring process.

Stage four exams the candidate through a series of physical fitness requirements. The design of such scenarios assess one's physical fitness both for strength and cardiovascular health.

Those prospective candidates that made it through the first four phases will now be asked to participate in the formal face to face interview. At this time detailed examinations of resumes will be conducted, references will be checked ultimately leading to a selection of employee(s) based on current hiring needs.

If selected as a potential employee you will be then brought into the service and placed with our training coordinator for 4 days of intensive on ambulance, actual patient care management situations and intensive hands on evaluations of all skills. Once that is done you will be made a probationary employee and begin your service orientation and continuous employment evaluation.

As with any large organization there are steps to "movement" within the organization. You wouldn't start out working on a paramedic team or driving your very first day. Your crew trainer will guide you through our internal orientation process that can take anywhere from 6 - 12 months before it is complete.

Welcome to Parkland Ambulance Care, we hope the your career in EMS will be a rewarding and challenging one.
